At Warrawong High School, we believe it is important to provide students the opportunity to express their creativity. All students study music in year 7 and 8, giving them the opportunity and experience in performing, composing and listening.
Students have the option to select music in years 9 and 10 where they continue to develop their skills in the areas of performance, composition and listenting with a particular emphasis on the use of technology in music. All students learn skills in writing, improvising and recording.
Students again have to option to select music as an elective in years 11 and 12. The specific focus being on performance and composition but also musicology and the concepts of music.
Students studying music in year 7-12 have many performance opportunities throughout the school year. School assemblies, education week expo, our annual performing and creative arts evening.
Warrawong High School also offers a professional quality recording studio specifically for elective students enabling them to write and arrange and record their own compositions using state of the art technology and software, just as one would find in a commercial recording studio.
