VET Hospitality Stage 6

Hospitality is a 2 unit Category B, Vocational Board developed course. It is designed for those students who have an interest in the Hospitality industry as a career, or who enjoy practical subjects and the learning of skills which can be used both in the workplace and at home.

This course is a competency based course. A Certificate II in Hospitality Operations is awarded to students who satisfactorily achieve all required competencies. This is a nationally accredit ted certificate which is recognised across Australia and provides students undertaking further studies in Hospitality at TAFE with recognised prior learning.

During the two year course, students will complete a minimum of 70 hours of work placement. This is a mandatory part of the course which gives students the opportunity to work in the hospitality industry. This is an opportunity for students to gain first -hand experience of what a career in this industry is all about. For some students it also provides them with the opportunity to gain apprenticeships or casual work.

All hospitality students are required to wear a chef's uniform during practical lessons. These may be hired from the school.
