Subject Selections for 2016 Year 11

Information Evening - Wednesday 5th August - 6pm

To Year 10 Students and Parents/Caregivers

The weeks ahead are very important for all Year 10 students.  It is during this time you will be making preliminary choices about your future HSC.

The 2016 Year 11 Subject Selections booklet will be handed out at the information evening.

The subject selection booklet contains information abuo the senior curriculum selection at Warrawong High School.  It outlines the diverse range of courses to choose from, to meet your individual needs.

Key Considerations for Subject Choice include:

INTERESTS:  Choose subjects which genuinely interest you.  Remember that you will be doing these subjects for two years.

CAREER ASPIRATIONS AND NEEDS:  Be realistic about your career choices, and choose subjects which you genuinely need for your chosen career direction.

ABILITIES:  Choose subjects in which you are capable of doing well.  There is no point in choosing a subject which is either too difficult for you or will not challenge you.

In coming to a decision about your career choices take time to consult with a wide range of people.  Family discussion will be most valuable.  Advcie from oder peers and family contacts can also be helpful.  At school, ensure that you talk to your teachers, expecially the Careers Adviser, who has wide experience in these matters.

Your decision also needs to be based on a good understanding of all the courses on offer.  This booklet has been designed to introduce the subject selection process, and be a basis for discussion.  Useful advice will also be provided at the Information Evening on Wednesday 5th August 2015 in the school hall from 6pm.
