Warrawong High School Careers Information

Due to Covid -19, regular Careers information and lessons will be a little different until school resumes as normal. Our aim is still to provide you with all the latest information that will help you make decisions about your future career and life beyond school.

The careers website https://www.warrawonghighcareers.com/ is the number one place for all your information. We have attached an information sheet titled -Introduction to our Careers Classroom - for parents and students. The vast majority of students have already registered and accessed the website previously.

Introduction to our Careers Classroom - for parents and students

For each Year group we will nominate activities that should be completed. For years 7-9 this will mainly be voluntary, however still very beneficial. For years, 10-12 there will be some important activities that need to be completed.

The Careers department also have a Facebook page:

Here you find all the latest information about Jobs, TAFE, Universities and regular updates of experiences happening in the community and at school.

Latest Updates as of 30th of March 2020

EVET – TAFE

TAFE NSW delivery, including EVET at TAFE NSW campuses and on school campuses, will be suspended from 30 March 2020 as detailed in this advice

For clarity during this period of suspension:

- TAFE Digital delivery for online students will proceed as usual

- Students should not attend TAFE NSW campus during EVET class time

TAFE NSW will provide further advice as the arrangements for delivery in term 2

are finalised.

EVET – ITEC

ITEC are in the process of getting Learning Packs ready and setting up an online

format in the event that face to face classes may be suspended from next week.

Students will be notified of what will be happening early next week. It is hoped

we can set up some remote learning classes through Zoom for those who have

access to the relevant technology.

I will keep you updated over the coming days of the direction that ITeC are taking

during this uncertain time. It is our intention to try and keep the momentum of

learning continuing as best we can in the event that classes have to be

suspended. Trainers are currently working to ensure that students can still

continue with the theory components of their courses with support from our

Trainers (through Zoom sessions, email and phone). We are looking to move to

an online platform with our resources so these can be easily accessed online for

those who have the technology at home to do so. Students who are unable to

access online resources will be provided with hard copies of Learner Guides and

Assessments.

In the event that we have to move to a remote learning format for a period of

time, students will receive a revised timetable and clear instructions of the tasks

that they will be required to complete each week. Trainers will be checking in

with them and assisting wherever possible.

UOW

Year 12 - The University Preparation Program (UPP) is open for applications until

the 6/4/20. All year 12 have an email regarding the application process. This

program is for all year 12 student’s not just students wanting to attend University.

It will be online for term 2.

Students wanting Early Entry to UOW – I strongly recommend you complete this

program.

term.

Year 10 Work Experience

There will be a number of activities Year 10 will need to complete to be able to

attend work experience. This will be clearly outlined in the Year 10 section.
